The Society has been obtaining grants from various sources to enable us to produce an indexing system to be able to research early landholders from 1872 omwards. We had the first 20 old Shire of Phillip Island rate books from 1872 to 1928 digitized and then printed into individual books to replicate the originals. We then commissioned a programmer to prepare an indexing program to allow researchers to research early land holders from the data of the old rate books. A volunteer is now inputting data into the program so the property information can then be obtained from our program. The Society would like to thank the organisations who helped with grant funding and especially the data inputter who is doing a great job.
